Best of 2014: Single Issue

2014 is over and there were plenty of amazing things to happen in the world of comic books over the last 12 months. First up we have best single issue.

The Multiversity: Pax Americana #1
by Grant Morrison, Frank Quietly, & Nathan Fairbairn

Grant Morrison's The Multiversity has been a long time coming. Finally, 2014 saw the release of Morrison's inter dimensional epic, and it's lived up to the hype, let me tell you. The Multiversity takes us on an adventure that spans multiple parallel Earths in the DC Universe, each issue drawn by a different artist. Pax Americana reunites Grant Morrison with superstar artist Frank Quitely, once again, and the result is this masterpiece of a comic book. This issue takes us to Earth-4 where this world is populated with what would be DC Comics's Watchmen. Whenever Morrison and Quitely team up they always seem to strike gold. The issue is gorgeous and, quite honestly, genius.

Honorable Mention: Moon Knight #5 (Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, Jordie Bellaire)

  1. Loved, loved, loved Pax Americana! This is the dynamic duo of Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly at their best. Adored the page you posted. Reminded me of the stunning paneling of the action sequences in WE3.

Keep writing Cristian. I can already tell that you have a knack for it. My suggestion is that you be more expressive and write why and what you liked or disliked specifically. You and your opinions are the only thing that will set you apart and make you a better and more interesting writer. That may mean writing more and going deeper into the subject, or posting opinion pieces and subjective articles such as top lists, controversies, or where comics are going and where they are right now. Personally, those are the things I search for and read, more than I do for reviews. More importantly, and I repeat, keep writing. Don't be discouraged if people don't read or pay attention. You keep writing, and keep reading comics!

    1. Thank you! I appreciate the constructive criticism. Things like that are definitely stuff I want to start doing this year.

Quitely is a master. We3 and Flex Mentallo are excellent examples of how innovative is, especially when working with Morrison.
